Race 6 was another cold, cold day. I was struggling to breath (seem to have lost the cold, but the pipes are still a bit raw). I was not surprised to be dropped after a couple of laps.
I was, however, surprised to bridge back to the bunch on the back straight and then sit there and finish with the main group for the first time this season. Hurrah! Admittedly, I was at the back of the bunch (24th out of 26 finishers) but I was there. I was helped by a general slowing down at about one third distance and a pretty constant pace from there to the finish. The winner was James Gregg of Behind the Bike Shed (is that for real?).
Race 7 is tomorrow and then we’re back to a race a week, if I can stay healthy.
