>Season finale

>It’s over. I managed to ride a full season for the first time since the early 1980s. I did ride quite a few club events in 2005, but this year has been a proper, December to October, 46 event racing programme. It’s a pity I wasn’t competitive, but I’ll review the data later and see what emerges.

Today was a great Autumn day. The event was the Hillingdon CC 25m TT on the Marlow course. The forecast was for a strong wind, but the morning turned out still, cold and a little misty. I think the coldness held back the times (I was wearing tights, a long sleeve jacket under my jersey and long-fingered gloves), but it was mostly a pleasure to be out there. I recorded a 1:3:25 – my 7th ‘3’ of the season in 17 rides at 25 miles. I felt pretty strong throughout and finished well. UPDATE: the winner was Barry Charlton (Lyme RC) with a 51:14. I was 73rd out of 101 finishers.

A rider was hit by a car during the event. I hope she recovers soon.
